Are you looking for renewal of wedding vows guidance?

Renewal of wedding vows!

To renew or reaffirm your marriage vows is a precious and special thing to do. It is a very special time for both of you spiritually and emotionally and for your marriage.

Embrace it and enjoy the celebration!

If you are considering a renewal of wedding vows, ceremony ask yourself these questions.....

* How special is your marriage to you?

* As a couple, what do you mean to one another?

* Do you remember what your marriage vows promised to your partner?

* Have I lived up to those promises?

Your answers may prompt you to renew your marriage vows!

What reasons do couples usually have for renewing their vows?

* It could be that one of you has had a brush with serious illness and now that you are well again you feel the urge to renew your vows of marriage.

* You have experienced a difficult time in your marriage and now wish to start anew.

* You feel you had a less than ideal marriage ceremony many years ago - maybe in a Registry Office or Town Hall somewhere.

* You were away from your family and friends when you were married - overseas perhaps.

* It could be that a special anniversary, your 10th, 25th or 40th or 50th is looming and you'd like to mark the milestone with the renewal of your wedding vows.

* Maybe there is no special reason at all. You just want to keep your commitment to one another really alive.

How to go about renewing your vows.....

A ritual or ceremony such as this does not require a celebrant or officiant as there are no legalities to be observed. Your options are.........

* Sneak away quietly or elope, yes elope!*

Make contact with a celebrant if that's what you'd like to do and collaborate with him or her on your ceremony and venue.

Write your own vows though, that's the important part.Maybe you still remember your original wedding vows and you want to say them again.

*Or you could do what my husband and I did in 2009*

We took a trip overseas and had a mini holiday to celebrate 40 years of marriage.

Before we went we wrote about our 40 year journey together and included vows to one another.

We actually stood at 6pm on our anniversary day (the time of our wedding ceremony in 1969) and read our reflections and renewed our wedding vows to one another.

They were very touching and special moments for us.

*You could have a small relaxed and simple vows renewal ceremony*

Including your immediate family only.

Family members can read, sing or participate in some other way. You could have a family unity candle with all your family members having a candle each to light from your marriage candle. You could engage a celebrant or officiant to do this ceremony for you if you wish.

*You could have a larger gathering of families and friends*

With a ceremony conducted by an officiant or celebrant like a wedding ceremony without the legalities.

Encourage participation by your family and friends.

It could even be held at your original marriage venue!

Try to locate members of your original bridal party to attend.

*Add some spiritual elements to your ceremony*

Have your renewal of wedding vows ceremony at a venue that has special connections for you.

Include some personally chosen spiritually inspired readings and candles.

Acknowledge your deceased relatives and friends.

Give thanks for your healing after major illness.

Acknowledge and give thanks for your family love, support and unity.

Include inspiring music.
